Tips for Photography - Working with a Second Shooter - Jasmine Star Inspired ✰

Working with a second shooter can be tough! But once again Jasmine Star and her lovely second shooter (which is also her husband), JD both show the importance of keeping the distance during the wedding day and also determining who is going to be shooting what and what the second shooter then has to shoot  whilst the first shooter handles the main bulk of the shoot... Second shooters are a great advantage to wedding photography as it allows maximum coverage during a couples day and is brilliant for getting those all important guest shots while the first shooter takes the bride and groom away for their special moments...

Second shooters are also fantastic to have along to hold equipment such as off camera flash or reflectors to bounce some light back into the subjects direction giving a nice even light distribution.

Before a wedding make sure you let your second shooter know what is required of them, what kind of settings they should be using so that they match yours when it comes down to the editing...

Make sure that they know not to shoot over your shoulder when it comes to shooting but for them to stand at a completely different angle to ensure a completely different shot is being taken which is then reflected as a whole different story of their day, meaning you get almost 2 shoots from 1.

It is important for the first shooter to get complete say as to where the bride and groom may stand, place their hands, look etc as it can be SO confusing when there are two creative shooters trying to shout their ideas at the couple making them confused and frustrated. Try to avoid cross-talking.

If you're the second shooter and have a good idea, then professionally talk to the first shooter and express your ideas, you're there also to express your creativity but be considerate to keep within the style of the first shooter so that the wedding flows fluently afterwards.

If you ever find yourself hiring a 3rd shooter! Then it is a brilliant opportunity to have that 3rd person do a swoop of the reception party, photographing guests laughing, drinking, taking pictures themselves etc etc... Brides LOVE and I used capitalisation there because I really do mean it when I say they love those types of shots of their guests having a great time and enjoying themselves amongst family and friends...

Amongst all, stay professional throughout the day and have fun!

PHEW! Spinning class along with Abs Blast!

Oh my gosh you guys!

So I haven't blogged for a while...Sorry!! But I have been SO busy with university work and smashing the gym getting my beach body ready for August! My Mum, (Janet), brother, (Tom), boyfriend (Chris) and I are all going to Fuencaliente de le Palma! We are SO excited but I got a little bit carried away over Christmas! Like a lot!

So I went to a spinning class / aero-biking, whichever you call it... and OH my days you guys... I am in so much pain right now! I really think I might have been doing it wrong haha!! Are the seats supposed to hurt that much really?! I was totally fine with the actual workout but I kept getting off and getting back on like adjusting my seat and URG just such a workout in itself to sort out the seat! hahaa!!

I guess I'll try again next week and maybe take a butt cushion with me! :D

Stay active guys and keep photographing!
